African Americans have proven themselves many times over by their patriotism and loyalty to this country, but I have yet to see that same support system emanating from Barack Obama's campaign and the man himself. A cursory view of the youthful U. S. senator's background will give one ample evidence that Obama's alleged patriotism is no more than a media blitz to his meteorcratic rise into national politics.
Barack Obama was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, a product of a mixed marriage yet the marriage wasn't strong enough to persaude his father to keep the family together instead of returning to his native Kenya upon completing his college education. Furthermore, the family's religious beliefs consisted of two dominant faiths -- Christianity and Islam. Not to mention that the couple hailed from two vastly different cultural backgrounds, which was also instrumental in the dissolution of the marriage when the time came for Barack Sr. to return to his native Kenya after having seen his son only once since that departure. Thus leaving Barack Jr. in America to be raised by his mother and grandfather.
Barack Jr. attended a prestiguous school in Honolulu, Hawaii; he entered the Punahou School in 1971 after returning with his mother from Jaharta, Indonesia, where he had attended school up until the 5th grade. Furthermore, Hawaii had only been a state for a mere 12 years when Barack Jr.'s mother and grandfather enrolled him in the Punahou School. Also, the state of Hawaii was still earning its recognition for American statehood yet its efforts at inculcating its residents with American patriotism was still very much suspect.
For example, when I was in school in the early 60's, my fellow students and I would stand to our feet and recite the "Pledge of Allegience" and sing a round of patriotic songs such as "God Bless America" and "My Country tis of thee"; and it took all of twelve years of schooling to develop this patriotic fervor toward America, whereas Barack Obama begun his education in the 5th grade after having returned to America from Jaharta, Indonesia. Thus, can he truly say that he loves America and her people when his alleged patriotism has been suspect ever since that momentus day in January, 2007?
We need a leader who will stand up for America, and not one who will move our country to the far left.
